House of White Spiders

Once upon a time, Stephen and his girlfriend Jessica were in love with life and each other, without a single care in the world. But things have changed. Their cramped city apartment has become something of a tomb--confining and claustrophobic. Stephen’s artwork is no longer sought after, causing him to descend slowly into the pits of despair, leaving Jessica to be the sole provider in their relationship, working as a waitress. Not able to sleep with thoughts of mounting bills and threats of eviction, Stephen’s only escape is in the world of old horror movies with the hopes that they might inspire a successfully unique concept for his work.

Jessica is simply tired, overworked, and finding it increasingly difficult to deal with her boyfriend’s frequent bouts of depression, even though she has the emotional support of her best friend and co-worker Lindsey.

But these two young people are not completely overlooked; they are lovingly watched over by their downstairs neighbor Mrs. Thomas, a sweet elderly woman who cares very much for the couple--even by providing Stephen with daily meals when she knows that they barely have enough money to buy groceries on their own.

One night, upon overhearing an especially heated argument regarding their questionable future, Mrs. Thomas confronts the young couple with a plan of salvation--she offers Stephen the opportunity to make $5,000 by simply cleaning out a house belonging to her friend in the country. The promise of such an amount would surely help the couple, compelling Stephen to leave the following day.

The town is Whitewood. The street is Raven’s End. The house is several hours away from the city, and is controlled by Mrs. Thomas’ friend, a real estate agent named Celia Watson--a very strange woman, cloaked in wardrobe long gone out of style...looking like something from one of Stephen’s favorite old cinematic horrors. And, for some strange reason, Celia is insistent about Stephen cleaning out the basement before all else.

Left alone to his tireless cleaning, Stephen finds the basement to look perfectly normal, with not a single sinister characteristic. But there are two locked rooms. What Stephen finds behind those doors unlocks the many secrets of the house, and the revelation that his presence in Whitewood is not by mere chance, nor by the charitable assistance of Mrs. Thomas.

...Stephen Kramer was destined to come to Raven’s End. www.thebluebottlecompany.com

One of many includes ex-boyfriend Peter (Kyle Cates) and ex-friend Faith (Chasity Newberry) also wanting to help. However, that is the least of Holly's troubles. Exhibit A

Now available on DVD

Sometimes it’s not the bumps in the night or the zombies that are the scariest things on film or in life. Sometimes the scariest thing is other people.

Exhibit A, Best UK Feature winner at the Raindance Film Festival and 3x British Independent Film Award nominee (Best Achievement in Production, Most Promising Newcomer (Bradley Cole), The Raindance Award), is now available to buy on Collector's Edition DVD from www.exhibitathemovie.com.

Exhibit A tells the timely story of a normal family disintegrating under financial pressure, eventually driven to the unimaginable. All is not as it seems as the King family go about their day-to-day lives oblivious of the horror to come. Dad Andy (Bradley Cole) is nursing a secret that ultimately leads to terrible consequences for them all. We witness these chilling events unfold through daughter Judith’s (Brittany Ashworth) video camera, which subsequently becomes Exhibit A. The film is inspired by the many men in real life who are known to their neighbours as devoted husbands and fathers, but for unknowable reasons suddenly decide to take drastic action to protect their loved ones.
In Exhibit A we learn that "true horror" is other people… So dim the lights, bolt your door and get ready for an experience that won't leave you the same person.

Written and directed by Dom Rotheroe (My Brother Tom, A Sarajevo Diary) and produced by Darren Bender (The Hamburg Cell), the film is a co-production between Bigger Pictures and Warp Films (Dead Man’s Shoes, This is England) and has left a trail of stunned audiences at festivals all over the world.
The film received support from the Screen Yorkshire and Screen East Production Fund.

Into The Pit

The Shocking Story of Deadpit.Com is a rich story of friendship, diverging dreams, blatant escapism, and childhood nostalgia set against a high contrast rural backdrop.

Into The Pit tells the story of Wes Vance and Aaron Frye, two seemingly unremarkable Kentuckians who have lived in the small town of Prestonsburg their entire lives. They live in a world where family, coal, bluegrass, hunting and church are the pillars of life itself. For a couple of guys whose main interests in life are horror films, professional wrestling, and heavy metal; staving off boredom meant taking some serious and inventive measures. They needed an outlet, and in 2005 they found one, creating an Internet-based “Horror Talk Radio” show called Deadpit.com. Forming a pair of wacky alter egos by the names of “Uncle Bill” (Aaron) and “The Creepy Kentuckian” (Wes), the duo hosts a weekly MP3 show that features the latest horror news, film reviews, and in-depth interviews with a roster of horror royalty: John Carpenter, Joe Dante and George A. Romero, among many others.

In the film, Wes focuses on Deadpit full-time, juggling duties on the site while freelancing as a web master. Simply put, he is the “Creepy Kentuckian,” a fun-loving guy whose passion for horror and humor is apparent in everything he does. The show’s other host, Aaron, is part “Uncle Bill,” and part graduate student pursuing a certification in mental health counseling. To help relieve the stress of this pursuit, Aaron becomes “Uncle Bill.” Under this pseudonym, Aaron lets loose, becoming as lewd and crude as he wants, obsessing over the gory details of horror movies and commenting with charisma and humor matched only by his co-host.

As the show grows in popularity, Aaron gets closer to gaining his degree. He begins to feel the tension between his two personas as an outrageous horror show host by night and a professional counselor by day. Adding to the stress is an ambivalent Wes, who sees the show as top priority and offers little empathy. Aaron finds himself in an ethical, professional, and internal quandary. The question becomes unavoidable: when or if will Aaron put away his scarier passions in the pursuit of more altruistic endeavors? The future of Deadpit.com is uncertain.

New Terminal Hotel

Don Malek (Stephen Geoffreys) isn't the usual tenant found in the skid row hotels of downtown L.A. Overcome with grief since the murder of his fiancee Katherin, the successful screenwriter-turned murderous vigilante is bent on revenge against studio head Stanley Glissberg, the man cleared of murder charges in Katherin's death. Don hasn't forgotten - and Glissberg's going to pay.

Enter Don's tenacious literary agent Ava Collins (Tiffany Shepis), who tracks him down and wants to sell his new script - if there is one - or cut him loose. Don assures her he's holed-up in the dingy room to write, and his screenplay's a work-in-progress. But after the kidnap, torture, and murder of Glissberg, he still feels a void inside. Adding to his slippery slope, Don calls on a neighbor to help hide the crime, and in doing so, uncovers despicable abuses down the hall. Spitz (Ezra Buzzington) is a hard-drinking former Marine and paraplegic, with a penchant for hookers and a violent streak.

When he asks a return of the favor - to get rid of an injured girl in his room - Don Malek must choose between turning a blind eye, or quickening his own destructive spiral. Add to the mix a relentless homicide detective, a nosy has-been rock star, an unscrupulous rival Hollywood agent, and Ava Collins' increasingly warped frame of mind, and the tenants of the New Terminal Hotel are about to check into a vortex of revenge, madness and murder...

Poe

In Poe, brilliant and wealthy Dr. Andrew Casey (Chuy Bravo) is a serial killer who goes by the name “The Chef”. One night eleven years ago his wife found out. He was arrested and imprisoned at Marathon County Asylum for the criminally insane. Eleven years pass and he is released, completely rehabilitated, and moves to Los Angeles under the alias Mr. Jack Conway. Yuppie and former teacher Johnathon Poe, a descendant of the famed writer Edgar Allan Poe and a brilliant writer in his own right, is about to form a bond with “The Chef” as the great doctor begins his spree of killings and cannibalism again.

To obtain the bodies needed to satisfy his culinary tastes, Dr. Casey, along with his butler Mr. Peeples, lures women to his home under the alias Mr. Jack Conway and under the pretense of meeting to discuss a well paying job. To prevent detection, these women meet Mr. Peeples in public places where they are then driven by limousine to the secret location of the house. In some cases, Mr. Peeples trolls the streets of Los Angeles in search of prostitutes for “The Chef”. Once the women arrive, they are tied up, drugged and eventually sliced up to be used for meat.

His need for notoriety causes Dr. Andrew Casey to seek out writer Johnathon Poe. With an offer to write an autobiography for a wealthy client, Poe is intrigued and agrees to the assignment. Once at the house, Poe is forced to witness all manner of horrors without the ability to either escape or help the women who have been captured. Resigned to his fate, Poe takes up the task at hand and begins writing the autobiography.

When naked torsos begin turning up in and around the Los Angeles area, police detectives Marcia Ramirez, Richard Jones, along with forensic pathologist Amy Short, begin the task of searching for this most troublesome serial killer. As the clues mount and their efforts intensify, the police are led to believe they have their suspect in middle aged Aaron Cameron. A loner who lives with his alcoholic mother, he finally snaps after one too many abuses from her and kills her in a fit of rage. He contacts the police stating his crime and is immediately arrested. With similarities between his killing of his mother and the work of “The Chef”, Aaron is initially thought to be the prime suspect in the serial killings. However, after extensive interrogation by Detective Marcia Ramirez, his story of horror and abomination is revealed and the potential serial killer is identified.

Can the police reach the killer in time or will yet more women be reduced to meat? The fast paced, thrilling conclusion will leave audiences gasping. When all is said and done, Johnathon Poe is left to tell the tale.

Invasion of the Not Quite Dead

Invasion of the Not Quite Dead by Antony Lane

Grimsby born filmmaker Antony Lane is attempting to revolutionize the way films are funded in the UK, by putting some life back into an almost dead film industry. In a quirky new concept Antony will be launching an epic film fundraising website called "THE INDYWOOD MOVIE PROJECT" on May 1st 2009. His goal is to independently raise the £100,000 budget needed to make his debut feature film "INVASION OF THE NOT QUITE DEAD" which is already being tipped as one of 2010's most anticipated horror movies.

This is the brainchild of entrepreneur moviemaker Antony Lane, a recent film and video graduate from the International Film School Wales (IFSW). He originally launched the movie project in 2007, using the internet as a way of bringing together the best filmmaking talent from around the globe, the first phase of the project was a huge success.

When the project originally launched In November 2007 Antony was able to make headline news with his Guinness World Record attempt at a zombie gathering in the city centre of Cardiff, this made national TV news, giving the project a huge level of media attention.

Some of Hollywood’s top film-makers have backed Antony's enterprising film project including Kevin Pollak, James Gunn, Lloyd Kaufman and the infamous Ken Russell who has agreed to take on the role of consulting executive producer.

“I’m very pleased to give my support to Indywood which is a very ambitious project. Antony deserves all the support he can get for using the internet as a method of bringing together independent film-making talent from all over the world.” said Ken Russell.

“It’s a great honour to have such an amazing film-maker as Ken Russell on board,” said 30-year-old Antony. “Ken, who will also have a part in the film, is a great believer in independent film-making.

"Invasion Of The NOT QUITE Dead" has already become a cult sensation across the internet even before entering pre-production, due to a year long marketing campaign which has reached out to the Zombie fans of the world, giving them nothing more than a poster and synopsis, but at the same time wetting their appetite for more. Within less than a year of promoting the movie Antony has managed to get the film advertised on two of Europe’s leading online dvd rental stores as well as being featured on several theatrical blockbuster lists for 2010.

Classed as NOT QUITE a Zombie movie, fans of the genre will not be disappointed with the direction Antony has decided to take with his new Zombie horror franchise.

"I have been a huge fan of the Zombie genre for most of my life, so it's essential for me to get the story just right. I think the title alone has made fans of the genre excited, but then when you add the names Ken Russell and Tom Savini to the mix it just adds intensity to the whole thing, I am very excited to potentially work with some of my heroes of horror". Antony Lane

The Fundraising site theindywoodproject.com has already become some what of a cult phenomenon due to Antony opening up a project Twitter account, within less than a week of being online Antony had over 1500 followers excited about what the project had to offer and what they could do to help.

"I think networking sites are amazing, how else can you get so close to the fans and learn what it is they want from a movie, I think places like Twitter and Facebook are the real marketing tools to a successful project" Antony lane

Reel Zombies

REEL ZOMBIES

Independent Zombie Film makers, Producer Mike Masters and Director David J. Francis, the team behind the commercially unsuccessful Zombie Night 1 and 2, have found the climate for Zombie movies has changed significantly after the “real” zombie invasion begins.

Hedging on the fact that the Zombie mayhem that has taken a grip on the nation is only a temporary problem, the filmmakers realize that once normalcy has returned, demand for Zombie product (now outlawed) will be at an all time high.

The filmmakers seize an opportunity to do something they were never able to before on their meager budgets, make a memorable zombie film. This time, however, through using real zombies, the film will have an authenticity and production value previously unattainable.

They set about “bringing the gang back together” and assemble several key cast and crew members from their past productions (the ones that aren’t already dead).

With a full crew and a documentarian following them all the way, Masters and Francis embark on the production of their masterpiece. Film production at the best of time is wrought with peril, and for these intrepid film makers, it is no different this time around.

From the challenges of safely shooting with and wrangling the hoards of untrained zombies to creative differences over what the film is ultimately to be about – the filmmakers face new challenges and production gets more precarious at every step.

The entire process is documented, complete with interviews, behind the scenes footage of production meetings and shooting challenges, as the filmmakers struggle with cast and crew being eaten by their hungry zombie extras. A lack of resources to finish the film, and an increasingly high level of zombie activity cause them to reconsider their previous notion that “things will soon be back to normal.”

Despite it all, the filmmakers’ resolve to finish the film at all costs leads them down some dangerous paths, and forcing them to make some difficult creative choices to keep the cameras rolling at all times.

It’s all the challenges of shooting a low budget zombie film, mixed with the perils of surviving in a Zombie infested world. Will they finish the film and get their long deserved accolades as pioneers in the Zombie film industry, or will the making of documentary be all that’s left of their oft times hilarious attempts to bring something innovative, fresh and devastatingly real to the screen?

Hora – The Whore

Hora has strong scenes of violence

She visits her late mother’s house in a small town named Dokka to finish her novel, attracting the attention of a number of rowdy male locals, including a “retarded” man, a bully and a “American psycho” type of guy. One day they visit Rikke in her house and brutally rape her then the bloody revenge begins.

The crew has finished shooting ext “Hora”. The Ruff cut of the film is finished, and the only thing according to the official Hora website to say is: “It’s a crazy exploitation flick with the same kind of feeling experienced in earlier productions by Troma, “Bad Taste”, “I spit on your grave”, “Friday the 13th” and “Evil Dead”.

Some new actors and actresses that are in the film: Ailen, Rudy Claes, Jørgen Langhelle and Reinert Kiil (Director) plays a small part in the film.

Kiil Produksjon has produced short films, music videos, documentaries and features. The company has a clear focus on horror and mystery movies. Kiil Produksjon is now in the production of a feature film called “Hora”, English title “Whore”. The company has signed on a list of strong names to the production of this exploitation film.
Director Reinert does his second feature film, and this time he has chosen the”Grindhouse” genre. Reinert has directed several short films and some documentaries and music videos. (Fuck Norge, 2004, Inside the mind of a splatter director, 2006 and The Voice of Conscience, 2007).

Assistant Director: Faisal Osman is highly engaged in improving both the quality and quantity of Norwegian movies. Faisal spends much of his time helping new filmmakers into a network that will let them work on their passion. He has also directed short films on his own.

Night of the Living Dead ReanimatedNight of the Living Dead: Reanimated

This is a mass collaborative artistic re-envisioning of George A. Romero's 1968 cult classic, Night of the Living Dead.

International artists and animators were invited to select scenes from the film and reinvent them through their artwork.

Opened to all styles, media and processes the results ran the gambit with scenes created in everything from Puppets to CGI, Hand Drawn Animation to Flash, and Oil Paintings to Tattoos.

This cacophony of works was organized and curated across the original film's time line in order to create a completely original video track made entirely out of art.

The result of this project is an experimental take on the cult classic. What it forfeits in visual continuity, it gains in variety.

If you are looking for a tried and true horror film, then go see George A. Romero's Night of the Living Dead.

If you are looking for a film which approaches the horror genres from an entirely new direction, then prepare yourself for the mindbending artistry that is Night of the Living Dead: Reanimated.

Dead Wood“Thoroughly enjoyable, decidedly spooky and heartily recommended, Dead Wood is a fine example of modern British indie horror.” Fangoria’s MJ Simpson

Four friends; Larri, her boyfriend Webb, her cousin Milk and her best friend Jess, escape the grime of the city and drive out into the woods in an old campervan for a peaceful, relaxing weekend. Events take a sinister turn when a mysterious girl, Ketsy, appears in their camp looking for her boyfriend. They agree to help her but when one of the group disappears the nightmare begins. Desperate to escape and not knowing who to trust, they find themselves lost in an endless wilderness stalked by a deadly force... watching... waiting... taking them one by one. As those left fight for survival they will discover the true nature of fear...

Dead Wood is the feature debut from Menan Films, a trio of British filmmakers; David Bryant, Sebastian Smith and Richard Stiles who met at film school before embarking on a series of successful, award winning short horror films.
For Dead Wood they combined their strengths, not just directing but undertaking all creative roles, to make a horror feature that combines the primeval fears of the unknown, the dark, the supernatural and the panic of being lost and alone. The result is a terrifying display of suspense that cranks up the tension and keeps the audience guessing who will be the next victim.

Dead Wood will have you looking over your shoulder next time you take a stroll in the woods.

As the night goes on, the volunteers begin falling victim to fatal accidents that may or may not be supernatural. Into the Basement

Into the Basement, a dangerous place to go!

The premise behind Into the Basement was to revisit the suspense thriller in the tradition of the horror, slasher flicks of the 70’s.

The process of bringing Basement to the screen began with the discovery of the novel written by Norm Applegate in 2006 by J.L. Botelho. Months went by until the winter of 2007 when Norm Applegate and Triad Studios made the commitment to partner and bring Basement to life. Taken by the dark characters and nature of the story, J.L. Botelho created the trailer for the film with Megan Lynn the first actress to be cast in the production.

Unveiled at the 2008 World Horror Convention, YouTube, and Myspace , Basement immediately had a following. Norm Applegate then brought his friend and international horror writer Nicholas Grabowsky, of Black Bed Sheet Books into the project. From their distant offices in Sarasota and Sacramento, the screenplay for Basement was developed. The momentum was picking up.

When the casting search began, J.L. Botelho had no difficulty in finding resume rich actors for the movie; Naama Kates, Courtney Gains, Larry Laverty, David Fine, Jesse Kozel, Jamie McCall, and Johathan Breck all found their way to the Basement. Assistant producer and actor DeeDee Bigelow, cemented the relationships and horror queens the beautiful Nicole Fiore, and the talented Melanie Robel, were added. A brilliant addition to the group is Two Foot Fred as Dr. Moro. The film was cast.

Fangs and Fur

Why should we call someone a werewolf when he/she actually does not act or behave like a wolf?

Rome (Italy) - November 25, 2008

The Italian documentary maker Michele Cogliati is making a revolution in the werewolf myth, showing the evidence of a link between werewolves and historical serial killers, supported by logical reasoning and a different approach to this subject.

Michele Cogliati, who worked for several years as wildlife photographer and researcher for Italian National Parks and the EU, noticed what apparently nobody did before: “The wolf is a pack hunter and a daylight predator, while the werewolf is absolutely a lone hunter and often depicted as a night stalker.”

Starting from this point, Michele Cogliati developed a theory about the “unavoidable choice” of the wolf, in Europe, to justify cases of murders, cannibalism “or even accidents, where the victims were later partially devoured by wild animals”.

>From prehistory to present times, the new theory provides an enlightening vision on one of the scariest creatures ever in European mythology and covers all aspects of the subject.

The work of Michele Cogliati is available as a documentary in English that can be downloaded for free (70 MB Flash Video). We will be glad to provide the full script on request.

Mental Scars

"Mental Scars" tells the story of a group of young Investors who are converting an old abandoned junkyard into a successful parking lot. What the investors don’t know is that the junkyard has a very dark past, and is the home of the evil David Taggart who is not receptive to intruders. What makes Mental Scars different from most horror movies, is not only David Taggart's elaborate and methodical ways of killing man, but the unpredictable events, complex back story, lessons to be learned, and blend of the eighties slasher films with contemporary psychological horror that keeps fans on the edge of their seats.

In other news, our first short (shot on digital) entitled "Unwelcomed" is finished being edited. To be blunt, when you see this short, you'll be articulating words such as: awesome, scary, creepy, wicked, wow, amazing etc.. Trust us, you will not be disappointed when it is released online. We already anticipate this short being developed into a feature film.

Brutal

BRUTAL is the debut film by Milwaukee native Nuna Minch. With a background primarily as a musician and leader of the band NUNA, Minch did whatever was necessary to get his message across. He achieved notoriety for once performing at the world's largest music festival - SUMMERFEST - in a wheelchair with a neckbrace and backbrace on after a serious car accident two days before. Minch has taken this fervor into his role as writer, cinematographer, editor and music supervisor (his brother Mark scored the movie) of BRUTAL. The full-length feature film was shot with a single digital camera and tracks a group of ghost hunters/documentarians as they search for a reported haunted site along a river bank in Caledonia, Wisconsin. While looking for the spot where the young boy who disappeared is rumored to appear, the group runs into the wrong person. BRUTAL is an indie/art house style that falls into the Horror/Terror category. It is sure to push buttons and generate some controversy as most films that strive to go past the usual do. The cast is new and fresh and much of the action is "real". Budgets didn't provide for breakaway or padded walls or fake instruments of death. Concussions, broken bones and real blood were a daily outcome of shooting. When there's that squeamish moment where you wonder, "How did they do that?" Be aware they just did it and that sickening sound just may be real. BRUTAL's premiere showing is October 30 at 7pm in Milwaukee, Wisconsin at the Downer Landmark Theatre, 2589 N. Downer Ave. Cast: Nuna Minch, Anya Minch, Andrea Minch, Mark Minch, Paddy Fineran, Mclain Kittleson, Michael Viers, Jacqulyn Rousseau, Roni Alwaise and Mike Schoen website:
